Types of Salt Mills

A salt mill is just a grinder which is designed specially to grind large grains of salt to finer grains for cooking or sprinkling. Salt mills need to be adjustable to the different sizes of salt grains that may be put in it. This can bring out the maximum usage of a salt mill. Pepper grinders are different from salt grinders since the mechanism is different. With more and more people experimenting with the different types of salts in their cooking it was becoming more and more difficult and time consuming to break down large grains of salt to a fine powder or smaller grains as desired. But, with the invention of the salt mill, which did the job in a matter of a few seconds made it very convenient and easy for people to use. As compared to earlier, a salt mill has become more of a necessity in every kitchen rather than a luxury.A salt mill is also different from a spice grinder. Salt mills unlike pepper or spice grinders crush the large grains of salt to finer ones depending on the setting of the user. Salt grinders can easily get corroded thus should be made with good quality material which will last long. The salt should be dry and this will enable free flow of salt. The mechanism of a salt grinder and a salt mill are very similar to each other. But for a home kitchen the grinder will prove to be more worthy as it grinds the salt to finer grains compared to a mill. Ceramic and corrosion free metal are generally used for this purpose.
