Help for those Suffering from Yaz Side Effects

Yaz is a popular birth control pill that is taken by millions of women around the world every year. As of late, Yaz has been associated with certain serious Yaz side effects and possibly life-threatening injuries. Women taking Yaz, or its generic form Ocella, have reportedly suffered strokes, heart attacks, among other serious health problems. And adding to the already rising scrutiny, the FDA has sanctioned the makers of Yaz and Yasmin for misleading television advertisements that did not properly informing consumers involving the health conditions the contraceptiions were meant to treat.

Among the different controversies surrounding Yasmin, Yaz and Ocella birth control, the drugs also include drospirenone, an ingredient not in other oral contraceptives. The British Medical Journal published studies in August 2009 establishing a higher risk of venous blood clots in adult females taking drospirenone as opposed to those who received other oral contraceptives. In the same month, the Food & Drug Administration issued an uncorrelated warning letter to Bayer Pharmaceuticals, makers of Yasmin, for using low-quality batches of drospirenone from a plant in Germany. For the benefit of public interest and well-being, these articles have been made available free online.

It is fundamental that women become their own advocates and take charge of the decisions being made about their health and their bodies. As a whole, the American public relies too heavily on doctors and pharmaceuticals to give them answers in a bottle. In the internet age, it is up to you to do your own research and become knowledgeable. Drug recalls and corporate lawsuits have become all too commonplace in the United States. At some point, individuals have to stop expecting the government and big business to have their wellbeing in mind. It is time for the public to at long last take the initiative and not be so quick to eat up anything passed to them in pill form.
