Where Is Sanctuary on a Exploration?
Sent church is definitely a trendy title that is all over the place these days. the idea that we have to label churches, missional, has always been a tiny bit strange to me. I ask you, shouldnt all bodies of Christ be missional in their very character? Shouldnt a church, at its very core, want to meet their culture and neighborhood with the gospel as a missionary would in a different country? Isnt that what the churches is commanded to do in the sending out by Jesus in Matthew 28:19? Our own hometown deserves this type of church. Churches in Austin is slowly moving to what our God instructed in Scripture.
The messiah gives the direction in Acts 1:8 saying, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8 justifies this concept as, right before Jesus Christ leaves to go to Heaven, He sends the disciples on a story that would start right in their own community. He begins with their origin of Jerusalem, and then broadens the call to the many parts of the world.
As disciples of Jesus, we are not moved to social clubs, but to be missional people who are aggressively going out and going to areas right where they are with the good news. We have noticed this throughout history: God sends Abraham on a mission to leave his country and his people and go to the land that God would show him (Gen. 12:1), God motivated Moses on a story to restore an enslaved people and lead them to joy (Exodus 3:8-10), God motivated Jesus on a journey to creation to bring back all things to Himself through the blood of Christ (Colossians 1:20). And now God is sending believers on a journey to engage communities, cities, ethnicities, and even nations with the story of Christ(Matt. 28:19 Mark 6:7 Luke 10:1 John 20:21 Acts 1:8). If we abandon this call and continue to display the churches like a invite only country club ” requesting that people straighten up their abilities, pay their dues, and visit to our church God will continue His exploration without us.
