Restful Holiday at the Reef Resort

Bone weary, dog tired, exhausted, bushed, fatigued, spent, washed out, and burned out – you could have used any or all of these to describe our physical and mental state at the end of last month. We had worked day and night to get our website working, fixing the bugs and snags, uploading content and making sure all the links were working as smoothly as they did during the last phase of testing. We wanted to chill out in peaceful accommodations by the sea, preferably on a sunny beach. We wanted to avoid the crowded beaches of the ‘happening’ destinations and so we chose to stay at the Reef Resort in Grand Cayman.

The white-sand beach was heaven and on most days, we just stretched out under the canopy of palm trees or relaxed by the pool after a refreshing swim. The food was exceptionally good, we enjoyed the prime rib night on the beach and the pizza night. We dined mostly alfresco at the Rusty Pelican, I loved the conch fritters there. We enjoyed waking up in our peaceful accommodations where the only sounds that greeted us were those of the waves and the birds. Long walks along the beach, picking up shells, and following turtle trails were just what we needed to recharge our batteries.

Breakfast of fresh fruit , an omelet, and French toast or spicy tacos was usually followed by an hour of surfing the net and checking emails before we headed to the patio in our peaceful accommodations for a lazy hour of snoozing. When we felt the urge, we opted for a game of tennis or took a sailing tour. The trip to Stingray city was a memorable one and so was the sunset cruise. Live music, beach parties and dancing were fun, but we were always glad to return to the serenity of our peaceful accommodations.
