The Various Professional Gardening Jobs Available
If you love to garden and are considering pursuing a job in the garden industry, then you should know what types of garden jobs there are. Each of these jobs are important to the garden industry, but each is a little different.
• Nursery Sales Associate: This person would be responsible for greeting and taking care of the customers in a nursery or greenhouse. They would have to have some knowledge of the plants and materials sold and should be able to answer basic customer questions.
• Gardener or Groundskeeper: A groundskeeper r gardener is one who maintains the plants and flowers on particular pieces of land. They may be required to plant items from time to time, but their main function is to maintain what’s already there. They need knowledge in how to care for these plants and need the tools in order to do so.
• Landscaper or Landscape Designer: A landscaper is similar to a groundskeeper in that they may be required to maintain some grounds. However, their main function is to design and install plants, shrubberies, and garden decorations on certain land lots. A landscaper must have knowledge in what plants grow in what types of environment, the time of year that they grow, the overall behavior of the plants and shrubberies, and the appearance (color, shape, and size) of these items.
• Horticulturist: A horticulturist experiments and investigates the behavior, breeding, producing, processing, and transport methods of different plants and vegetation. This person will spend a lot of time experimenting with different ways to get more nutritional value out of vegetation, adapting plants and vegetation to different environments, preventing disease among plants, and finding new ways to keep pests away from vegetation.
