Large Office Space near Castle Square Sold

In a new property deal for £4.4m, Oneleven Arundel Gate, an impressive building providing 38,000 sq ft, seven storeys tall, and strategically located near Castle Square, was purchased by Sheffield’s Hallam University through a business consultancy firm, Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH).

The property belongs to Simonsig Property, which is an Investment and Property Development Company based in London and owns Oneleven. This has been claimed to be the biggest office deal in the city for the year 2009.

Hallam has already invested £100m in various ventures in the educational field during the last decade and is planning further investments of £50m by the coming year. According to Alex Pettifer, Hallam’s director of estates and facilities, Sheffield Hallam University, with thousands of employees and over 30,000 students, is one of the premier institutions in the country, making over one hundred and fifty million every year. The deal is being seen as a part of Hallam’s drive to provide its employees with better access and other amenities.

Hallam intends to free up more space for educational purposes, because of which it intends to move its city campus in the heart of Sheffield city to a new location, especially for its administrative and support services. The building deal was not only finalized in a very short time but the payments were also made within three months.

According to Guy Gilfillan, the head of LSH
